Hello you all,
I've been away for a long while. Partly lazy, partly busy - mostly doing everything else than posting stuff here, obviously. Here's a quick catch-up:
In June and August as a summer job project I did two wallpaintings in two different apartment buildings' hallways. They're very much ordinary crowd pleaser-paintings with nice waterscapes chosen by the very much elderly residents of these apartments. Pictures of them will never reach this site, but hey.. I have to live on something the rest of this year.
Since the beginning of this semester I've been working on perfecting the plans for a series of three fairly large (155x130cm) oil-paintings guided by three different painters. This so far has propably been the most rewarding time in my whole two and a half year studying career in Lahti Institute of Fine Arts. I've been given some very useful guidance by these three teachers, and this has encouraged me to really put effort in brushing up my working habits that so far have been quite..eh, random at best. So, now I have well made plans and sketches for these three paintings for which I made the first canvas just today. Yup, none of them have actually been painted yet (there's a limit to how much I can improve my ways in a few weeks). But all in all, I'm feeling good about the progress made and paintings to come. Well see how good I'll feel once the paint hits the canvas, though..
Beside this "main project" I'm working on a few smaller paintings that sort of serve as rehearsal canvases for the bigger ones, but since they seem to be turning out okay I might post them here too. Also, I took up the old project of painting Tom Jenkinsons portrait, inspired by his new (AWESOME) live album. So far the portrait's not looking as awesome.
I'm in dire need of someone to make me a website, but even more so in dire need of having the time and energy to make the graphic part of it myself. Applications for exhibitions also need to be made and sent, and then there's the matter of this essay on art I should be writing for our finnish language studies..
But instead I'm going to forget about all of this for a day, and head to Helsinki tomorrow for a day/evening with horrormovies and cuddling.
